Zonta International seeks to empower women worldwide by improving the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local levels through service and advocacy. With the generosity and collective action of Zontians and friends around the world, Zonta International has supported projects in 57 countries, provided scholarships and awards to women around the globe, and been a powerful advocate for change in our local and international communities, thereby transforming the world and women's place in it.

ZONTA HISTORY
Zonta International is a global organization of members and was founded in 1919. Zonta is one of the first service organizations to understand women’s unique role in shaping women’s lives in the 20th century. Comprised of 1,200 Zonta Clubs with more than 31,000 members, Zonta clubs are thriving in 65 countries and geographical areas around the world.
ZONTA WORD ORIGIN
The word “Zonta” is a Sioux word meaning “honest and trustworthy”. Is a sisterhood of likeminded individuals that has provided networking opportunities and built leadership skills on local and international levels for over 20 years. Our membership prides itself on diversity with members from an array of cultures and professions, ready to share knowledge, skills, advice and experience with fellow Zontians, unified in their work for women.
